This past weekend I was able to take an Easyjet flight to Edinburgh. It was a fantastic visit. The highlight was seeing old friends and laughing our faces off.
It was a new sensation to be in a foreign English-speaking country. During my stay in Fribourg, I've been able to travel some - but before this year, I hadn't really been able to hopscotch around Europe. So it's been nice to see new things - with old friends.
Kristen was able to house us. She's from Canada, and we met in Lugano in TASIS days. She's currently studying at the Royal Dick School of Veterinary Studies. Kristin, also a friend from TASIS days, met me at the airport. Her fiancé Matt joined us Friday night. They both made the treck down from Inverness.
I'll just get right to the pictures.
(Kristen welcomes us to her flat.)
(Delicious pork sandwiches.)
(Pork on a bun. They had the whole pig on a roast. Yummy.)
(Pork on a purse. Nothing goes to waste.)
(Joseph becomes Scottish.)
(Kristin's secret Scottish lover.)
(Making guacamole. Olé!)
(Thanks, TASIS!)
(Delicous.)
(Joseph's proper Scottish breakfast.)
(Castle.)
(More castle.)
(You guessed it, Castle. But note the clear sky. No rain except the morning I left!)

These three shots are the view from the posh Starbucks we went to. I had a wishlist of things to do that included getting a scarf, a bloody Mary and getting a coffee in a paper cup - sorry Mother Earth.)

Hi Joseph,
It looks like you are enjoying Edinburg as much (or maybe more) than Mama and I did when we were there.
Good memories!
A neat castle with great history.
Papa
What a FABULOUS weekend! We were lucky, too - snowstorms this weekend, so would have made it difficult to get down to see you. I'm looking outside at the sun and snow and wishing we were sipping wine and laughing... :)
So great to see you! Enjoy your final weeks in the Schweitz! xoxo
