First stop: Vallon.
We visited the Musée Romain where they had a special exhibit on how things from ancient times find their way into modern advertisements. The museum is on the site of an ancient villa that has amazing mosaic floors.
(Archeopub! High five!)
(Not totally ancient, but the Église Saint-Pierre de Carignan right next to the museum.)Next it was off to Avenches - or better known in Roman times as Aventicum. The highlight of this city is its amphitheater, which still is used for operas, concerts and other events. As far as I know, no gladiator fighting, though. Bummer.
